Local Yocals Sweet Salvation
Local Yocals Sweet Salvation
I'll give you the motivation for Sweet Salvation. We started competing in 2017 and through the years I've mixed a lot of rubs for that layer of flavor that I wanted on particular categories. I finally realized a couple of years ago that certain rubs layered better than others. Mostly different sugars in rubs seemed to bring a nice different layer. For instance if I used two that both used brown sugar it may have been good but not as good as if I mixed one with brown sugar with one with regular sugar. That was where I got the best result.
When I set out to craft a seasoning I wanted to see if I could eliminate buying as many rubs and still get the layers of flavor I wanted. Sweet Salvation has Brown, Sugar, Sugar, Turbinado and Honey Powder all in one bottle all while remaining very balanced with salt, savory and just a slight bit of heat. I wanted it to have great color and also make it easy to apply by making it consistent in size.
When we were finally able to accomplish all of that we were still surprised by how well it scores on the KCBS circuit. It's exceeded our expectations and much to the delight of my wife, it made by seasoning box lighter. That's not to say you can't layer it with other rubs because in some cases we still do but it's more than capable of being a standalone rub for anything Pork or Poultry. We hope you'll agree.
